Grace Senior Living’s Apron Club Reaches Out to Douglasville’s Share House Domestic Violence Shelter

Summary
The Apron Club of Grace Senior Living of Douglasville has “adopted” the Share House family violence and crime center with a showering of prayers, kindness, and household articles.

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (February 25, 2016) – The Apron Club of Grace Senior Living of Douglasville has “adopted” the Share House family violence and crime center with a showering of prayers, kindness, and household articles.

The Apron Club was started in October 2015 with the desire to give back. “The women at Grace have all juggled families, home, and jobs and understand how difficult it can be at times,” Gina Kristjanson, Grace Senior Living's Life Enrichment Coordinator, said. “These residents are strong women of faith and want to be active members in the community that they love and call home.”

They chose to support the Share House because these women need prayer and support from local women. Grace Senior Living resident Enola Henson said, “My name spelled backwards is ‘alone’, and I want the women of Share House to know they are never alone. God is always with them.”

Grace Senior Living resident Juanita Drass said, “I know what it is like to need help and I want to help support these women by praying over them and blessing them with small gifts.”

Starting in October, The Apron Club sent notes filled with Christian fellowship. In November, they sent a gift basket containing kitchenware. Christmas gift bags were sent with cards filled with encouragement and love. In January they copied scripture verses and sent those, and in February they sent a basket filled with pocket books and heart-shaped chocolates.

“In the coming months, we will continue to pray and thoughtfully think of ways to spread care in our community,” Karen Cabral, Grace Senior Living’s Executive Director, said.
